We encourage students enrolled in the Master of Science in General Biology (MSGB) program to familiarize themselves with the policies and procedures of Graduate Studies at MSU in the Graduate Bulletin.
As a graduate student in the Department of Biological Sciences, you should be aware of the following:
Students must complete all 33 hours in the Master of Science in General Biology (MSGB) program from MSU.
To remain in good academic standing, students must maintain a GPA of 3.0. Making more than two grades below a "B" on courses in the student's program of study will result in grounds for dismissal from the program and MSU.
The time limit on credits earned that can be accepted toward fulfilling degree requirements is 8 years.
A student may repeat only one course per degree. Both grades earned for that course will appear on your transcript and will be used to calculate your GPA.
To be eligible for graduation, a student cannot have a GPA lower than 3.0, a grade less than a "C", or 6 credit hours of "C" or lower.
Prior to graduating from the Master of Science in General Biology (MSGB) program all students must apply for a degree. The application can be found online in the mySTATE portal mySTATE portal. Log in and choose "Banner" from the drop down menu. "Apply For A Degree" is listed under the myBanner for Students menu and Academic Records column.
***Comprehensive examinations must have been successfully completed, transcripts received, and all fees paid in order to be eligible to graduate.
