Section numbers are as follows:
501/511/521/561 - Starkville Campus and Columbus Air Force Base Students
503/513/523/563 - Distance MSIS Students
505/515/525/565 - Southeastern United States Military Students
Why so many different section numbers?
With the growth of the Distance College of Business programs, we added new section numbers to distinguish duplicate offerings in the same semester, and to accommodate differences in fees for military and local area residents. The first digit of the section code (5) indicates that these courses are Distance Campus 5. The middle digit indicates the course term within the semester; 0 = full semester; 1 = Term I; 2 = Term II. (The exception to this is that the middle digit 6 is for any course taught online from the Meridian campus faculty.) The last digit indicates the distance student attribute; 1 = Local area, within commuting distance from campus; 3 = regular distance student; 5 = military on duty or residing within one of the SEC states. |

* If a non-College of Business class only has a 501 section listed, anyone may register in that section.
