MSU Alumni Honors PHCL Graduate
Andrea Scott Mayfield, Executive Director of the Mississippi Community College Board since December 2015, received the MSU Education Department alumni-of-the-year award recently at the MSU Alumni Association 2016 awards banquet. Mayfield previously served as president of Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and has more than 18 years' experience in the Mississippi community college system with East Mississippi Community College – Scooba campus. While at EMCC-Scooba, Mayfield served as an Instructor of Biological Sciences, e-Learning Coordinator, e-Learning Dean, Dean of Instruction, Vice President for Instruction, Vice President for Institutional Research and Effectiveness, and Vice President of the Scooba Campus. Mayfield received her BS in Biology from Livingston University, and a MA in Teaching Biological Sciences from the University of West Alabama before obtaining her PhD in Community College Leadership through distance education at Mississippi State University.
