Program Structure

Students should have the following undergraduate courses before entering the program:

Psychological basis of behavior (e.g., Introductory Psychology)
Developmental psychology (e.g., Child Development)
Education, learning, or cognition (e.g., Theories of Learning)

Those who have not met prerequisite course requirements may enroll in the program and take these undergraduate courses as they progress through the degree program.

A minimum of 82 semester hours beyond the baccalaureate degree is necessary to earn an educational specialist degree from the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Foundations. Students accepted into the Ed.S. program in School Psychology should either hold a master’s degree in Psychometry or earn a Master’s degree in Psychometry en route to the completion of the Ed.S. degree

The Ed.S. School Psychology students must complete a 1200-hour internship in the P-12 school setting and pass three examinations:

PRAXIS II in School Psychology (i.e., students must obtain a passing score as outlined by the National Association of School Psychologists)
Master’s written comprehensive exam
Master’s oral comprehensive exam

Submit online application. You will select Master of Science in Educational Psychology with a Concentration in School Psychometry as your major and Online Education as your campus
Statement of Purpose
Three letters of recommendation
- You will be asked to submit three names and three email addresses of individuals you are using as references. Once you click submit, these individuals will be sent an email from MSU, which will provide a link to an online form for completing their recommendations.
TOEFL or IELTS scores are required for international students.

Once admitted, you will receive an email with complete instructions on registering for classes and contacting your advisor.

Academic Advising

After gaining admission to the university, you must contact your assigned advisor to determine the courses most appropriate to take. Before the upcoming semester, your advisor will send an email to your MSU email account, making course recommendations based on your program of study.
